“Willa, I couldn’t have done it without your help. Without your support, I wouldn’t have gotten that piece of land.”
My wife laughed sweetly. “Good job. This is a big achievement. I’ll make sure you get a promotion and a raise. No one in the company will dare question it.”
I stood frozen at the door, feeling sick to my stomach.
