“Congratulations, President Davidson! Congratulations, Desiree!”
“When’s the wedding banquet? We’re waiting for the wedding candies!”
Vincent’s smile stiffened, a flash of panic showing in his eyes, leaving him completely off guard.
I knew at once what rattled him.
Everything he had came from the Higgins family, and what Desiree was doing now was clearly forcing him into marriage.
If he agreed, it would mean cutting ties with the Higgins family completely and starting from nothing.
Now this was going to be a show worth watching. I wanted to see how Vincent would handle this mess.
Desiree, unaware of his inner panic, tilted her head and acted coy. “Baby says he wants to attend Daddy and Mommy’s wedding in a beautiful castle. Vincent, when will you marry me?”
The crowd, eager for drama, began to chant in unison, “Propose! Propose! Propose!”
Vincent forced a smile, but the sweat beading on his forehead gave him away.
Just then, a guest’s doubtful voice cut through the noise.
“This yacht looks familiar. Isn’t it the sixth wedding anniversary gift Landon gave his granddaughter and son-in-law? Could it be that Desiree is…”
The scene fell silent. All eyes turned to Desiree, her face drained of color.
