“Janice doesn’t know anything about this,” he said coldly. “And she never will. Don't bring this up again.”

“I know I wronged you about the child,” he added. “But we’ll just have another. I’ll make it up to you.”

And just like that, he signaled his bodyguards to grab me. He then forced the urn from my hands and walked away.

Shortly, I broke free and ran after him, only to see him standing at the edge of a steep ravine and tossing the urn.

Without hesitation, I jumped after it.

Alexis's POV

“Halle!” I shouted in panic. “Someone get down there and save her!”

Quickly, four bodyguards scrambled after Halle.

Just then, Roy came running over, breathless.

“Mr. Stanley, Miss Brewer’s feeling unwell again. She’s in bed calling for you.”

I froze then glanced back toward the ravine, torn in between.

Then, my phone rang. It was Janice.

“Alexis, where are you?” she whimpered on the other end. “I’m scared… Am I going to die?”

“I’ll be right there,” I said gently. “Hang on, Janice. I’m coming.”

I turned to Roy and instructed, “Watch over Halle. Once they bring her back up, take her to the hospital. Tell her I’ll come find her once everything’s taken care of.”

But Janice occupied me, so I forgot about Halle.
