"I don’t want to do this to her." Evan moaned before continuing, "But you... don’t you just love it when I treat you like this?"
"Oh, my husband is so bad..."
Evan froze at her words, his movements halting abruptly. His gaze turned icy. "Don’t call me that. You don’t deserve it."
"The only one who can call me 'husband' is only Isla Montclair."
I felt my heart twist. Even as he betrayed me, he clung to the idea of his love for me.
He had no idea that it only made the irony of his betrayal unbearable.
"All right, all right. Who doesn’t know Captain Aldridge loves Doctor Montclair?" Violet smiled with false sweetness. "A woman like me can only be jealous."
Evan silenced her with a kiss. "Why be jealous? My body only reacts this way to you."
His words cut through me like a blade, sharper than anything.
His heart might be mine, but his body now belonged to someone else. This twisted version of love was far more painful than a merciless betrayal.
On the surveillance screen, their bodies tangled once more.
I froze as I watched Evan celebrate our anniversary by having fun with another woman. Tears blurred my vision, falling down my face uncontrollably.
