Zane didn't come back that night. He entered the next morning with a hint of guilt on his face. I greeted him, and turned my focus back to the book I was reading.

Selena’s POV

I could sense his confusion. He was confused because I didn’t start complaining that he didn’t come back last night, for spending the night at Linda's place. That was how it had always been in the past.

“Sorry I couldn't make it last night.” He said awkwardly.

I shrugged nonchalantly, “It's okay, you must have been busy.”

Zane furrowed his eyebrows at me, wondering why I wasn't reacting like I normally did.

“Are you mad at me?” He couldn't help but ask.

“No, I'm not.” I replied with another shrug.

“Really?” He asked, narrowing his eyes at me in disbelief.

I nodded. “Yeah,”

“Then what is this?” He asked, pulling out a vial of potion from the trash bin.

“I'm not angry,” I repeated with yet another shrug. I wasn't going to explain anything to him.

Zane gave me a patronizing look. “Of course, you’re not mad. How petty can you be, Selena? You threw away the potions and the herbs over something so trivial.”
