"That's not true! Lorelei, believe me. I didn't intend to cheat. I wasn't in my right mind. Kourtney slipped something into my drink, that's why I missed our anniversary," Matthew explained, his voice pleading.
"I don't care about your excuses, Matthew. No matter what you say, you cheated on me," I dictated. I was certain of it, I had evidence, but I would hold onto it for now. It would be useful in court.
Tears welled up in Matthew's eyes as he desperately tried to convince me. Kourtney stood silently by, watching the unfolding drama.
"This is all your fault!" Matthew accused, pointing at Kourtney.
"Don't blame me, Matthew! You wanted this to happen. Why can't you admit you cheated on her because you chose me?"
"Chose you? I would never choose you, Kourtney. You're a cunning woman. You took advantage of me! I knew it! You wanted to destroy one relationship, but I won't let that happen!"
My anger flared, directed at both of them. "Stop it, both of you! You're both guilty, so stop blaming each other. All I want is for you to leave!" I yelled.
Matthew knelt before me, pleading for forgiveness. But Kourtney, with a chillingly calm voice, added fuel to the fire.
