The tag pointed to an upscale gated community—Henry's second home.

I'd been there once. That time, Elaine had gotten blackout drunk, and Henry had called me to come pick her up.

Elaine had posted quite a bit on social media after that. At some point, I'd muted her. Never saw another post.

The truth was, I had suspected something between Elaine and Henry.

But the baby she'd been carrying was mine. That, I never doubted.

Because I knew that if it had been Henry's, she would have kept it.

It was mine. That was why she got rid of it.

The moment that thought surfaced, I knew it was over between us.

After wrapping up the resignation paperwork at the office, I headed back to sign the last of it.

"Did you guys hear? Mr. Gray and his wife are getting a divorce..."

"Aren't they always threatening divorce? With all that money tying them together, it's not that easy. It's just talk."

"This time it's different. Apparently Mr. Gray is the one pushing for it."

"Wait, seriously? Because of Elaine?"

"Keep your voice down..."

I stood in the corner of the elevator, listening to the gossip swirl around me. My heart was strangely calm.

The moment I signed those divorce papers, I cut Elaine out of my life for good.
