I chased after him, screaming the words for all to hear, but the rain had begun pouring, drowning out my voice. He halted when he got to the door and glared at me. “I don't know what stupid paper you are talking about, but I don’t want you in my life again. Take this and get out!” He bellowed, flinging the paper into the downpour, and I watched in horror as it landed on the floor, the rain beating down on it until it was unrecognizable.
I didn’t hear them coming, but hands grabbed me, and they began to drag me out, disregarding my screams, and they deposited me outside of the pack.
I collapsed on the bare floor, sobbing in pain even as the rain continued to lash down on me. I wept until I was exhausted, and I picked myself up to begin the long journey home.
My shoulders shook with each step, my body trembling from the cold, but I continued the journey home, dragging myself through the puddle until I saw the lone cottage that stood away from the pack, and I entered inside, collapsing at the door.
The rain had seeped into my bones, weakening me, and with a deep sigh, I closed my eyes, surrendering myself to the darkness.
