With a "bang," I felt myself soar into the air. Then, I crashed back down onto the road a few seconds later.
Immense pain instantly engulfed me. Despair made me remember the years spent with my wife and daughter.
"Why is it you? I'm sorry. You can't die! Hold on! I'm calling an ambulance now," said the woman.
A trembling female voice and a red wristwatch were the last images I remembered.
Moments later, everything froze in a beam of light.
When I woke up again, I found myself lying safe and sound in the rocking chair at the village farm, enjoying the gentle spring breeze.
Before I could figure out what had happened, my phone on the table vibrated with a "buzz, buzz." The screen displayed a call from "Darling."
I glanced at the date. Had I returned to six months ago?
I suppressed the excitement in my heart and pressed the answer button with trembling hands.
"Hey, transfer me thirty thousand dollars. I want to buy a piano," Eleanor said.
The familiar voice on the other end was none other than that ungrateful daughter, Eleanor!
The arrogant and domineering tone confirmed that I wasn't dreaming. I had truly been reborn!
