I laughed. "Didn't you say you didn't believe in this stuff?" I asked.
Madelyn looked uncomfortable but stubbornly replied, "I just felt sorry for them. I'm beautiful and kind-hearted, don't you get it?" she said.
I coldly laughed inside. Someone like Madelyn dared to call herself kind-hearted.
But in the past few days, Madelyn had turned into a kindness person. She gave each beggar a tip of at least five hundred dollars.
But Madelyn couldn't stay peaceful for even two days before she started causing trouble again.
In three days, it would be the day of Mom's car accident. I told my brother to stay by Mom's side at all times and not let her go to the market that day.
Mom listened to me and my brother. She didn't go to the market for several days.
But something unexpected still happened that day. Madelyn went to my house to find Mom without telling me.
Mom thought there was no food at home, so she took Madelyn along to the market.
The car accident still happened. By the time my brother called me, Mom was already in the hospital.
My heart skipped a beat. I didn't even hear the rest of what my brother was saying. "Don't say anything else. I'm coming to the hospital now!" I said.
