No sooner had Fiona spoken than Wyatt snatched the invitation with excitement. "The International Dance Association! Fiona, you're really making a name for yourself now. To get into this competition..."
He and Fiona were deep in conversation at the table.
My mother occasionally added food to Fiona's plate, reminding her to eat more.
Then, Fiona passed the food to my plate. She said, "I need to watch my figure. A dancer's most important job is to stay in shape. Give it to Chloe. She's not dancing anymore, anyway."
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, Fiona looked at me apologetically. "Chloe, I hope you don't mind me saying this before you. I'm just so happy. I wanted to share it with my family."
"Why would she mind? Chloe is thrilled for you," My mother interjected before I could respond. "My friends are so envious that even though Chloe can't dance anymore, she has a sister to carry on her legacy."
I kept my head down and stayed silent.
My father continued asking about the competition, reminding Fiona not to be nervous. He said with her skills, placing in the top three would be a breeze as long as she performed well.
