A month passed quickly. Valery had taken everything from the house. She took away all the bags and jewelry I bought for her and even took the hairdryer. If it weren't for the other appliances being purchased before marriage, she would probably have called a moving company to take them away.
Most of these things were sold at a discounted price by Jarrett, and the money was taken by Jarrett. But Valery was happy to accept it.
Just after finishing all the procedures and getting divorced from the Family Court, I walked to the parking lot and saw Valery appear in front of my car, holding hands with a man intimately. The man glanced at me, smiled, and handed me a cigarette, saying, "Hello, do you want a cigarette? I am Valery's current boyfriend. I heard that you are dying soon. That's great. Thank you for leaving Valery to me."
I thought self-mockingly that it was fortunate that I had lied out of goodwill, otherwise, not only would I have spent money on Valery's medical treatment, but I would also have been cheated on.
Valery glanced at me and said, "You look good. I was worried that you would die so soon. It's a pity that you are stingy and don't give me a chance to inherit your estate."
