"Did she say anything inappropriate about your child today? I also have a child, and she often criticizes my baby in front of me. As mothers, we can't stand people speaking ill of our own children. Our babies mean everything to us. But I'm quite timid and haven’t been able to confront her."
As I spoke, my eyes turned red.
Bringing up the kids as a common point of connection was enough to resonate with her.
"She's really gone too far. She's a lunatic. You should cut ties with her and never see her again."
The mother was furious.
"I want to. She knows where I live and always comes to visit my baby, but I know that's just her excuse. She's really trying to get close to my husband. My husband and I are deeply in love; he's never paid her any attention, but she keeps showing up. I saw her having a dispute with you today, so I thought I'd come up to clear up any misunderstandings between us. We're both parents, so I know you can't stand people like her just as much as I do."
