However, it was time to add fuel to the fire.
Cindy came again, but this time, I did not go to sleep. Instead, I opened my arms and asked for Mike’s hug.
Mike looked embarrassed as he hugged me. I glanced at Cindy's face, which was so dark, and purposely choked with sobs as I asked.
"I had a nightmare. I dreamed that you abandoned me. Mike, do you love me?"
Mike hesitated for a few seconds before he spoke in a firm tone.
"Of course, don't let your imagination run wild."
I continued, "Do you love me, or do you love the one who can give birth to a child for you?"
Mike paused for a few seconds and replied, "Of course I love you. But with a baby, we will definitely be happier."
Seeing the uncontrollable anger on Cindy's face, I knew that I had achieved my goal.
So I said that I was sleepy. Hearing this, Mike carried me to the bedroom and let me sleep. He also carefully tucked me in.
"Lily, have a good rest. I'll take you out for a walk when you wake up."
I smiled and nodded.
