“I’m warning you, if you dare follow Hugo and keep another woman outside, the two of us will divorce!”

He lowered his head, moved to the side with the phone, and said quietly, “Wife, I’m outside right now. Can’t you save some face for me? You’re making it awkward for me.”

The man kept promising he wouldn’t betray her and coaxed her for quite a while before the woman doctor finally spoke.

“Dorothy came to see me for a gynecological problem. She said she hadn’t gotten her period for two months and wanted to check if she was pregnant. But I examined her uterine lining, and it was only 5mm. With a lining that thin, she couldn’t be pregnant.”

“In the end, it was confirmed as polycystic syndrome. I gave her some medicine and told her to take it regularly after going home.”

Hugo’s mind buzzed.

He grabbed the phone from the man and asked with a shaking voice, “So you mean Dorothy isn’t pregnant?”

Silence stayed on the other side of the call for a few seconds, then a harsh laugh broke it.

“Pregnant? That's an absolute joke.”
