I looked at the stack of documents in his hand, feeling heartache.
"Luke, take another look, and you will find that the person lying there is the one you hate the most.
It's okay if you hate me and don't want our child, but someone else is tied up like me. If you don't save them, another victim will appear."
Luke followed the police back to the station, where they had the most complete case files.
He rubbed his temples, visibly tired.
Before coming to the scene, he was comforting his lover, Nora Evans.
The overnight companionship made the dark circles under his eyes more noticeable.
"Luke, if you're tired, you can go back and rest for a while. The autopsy report won't be out for a while."
Wyatt pulled out the case files from three years ago to check for similarities between the two cases.
"She's about to give birth, and her husband hasn't reported her missing after so long. What a scumbag."
He complained while looking at the photos from the scene.
Luke's face didn't look good. He seemed to think of something and took out his phone to call Nora, "Nora, it's not safe outside lately."
"Don't go out. Call me if you need anything, and I'll take care of it."
