The mention of Glenda stabbed at my nerves, causing every cell in my body to scream in pain.
Turning around, I retrieved my ID and marriage certificate from the cabinet. "Let's go. The City Hall hasn't closed yet. We can get our divorce now."
He looked at the documents in my hand and scoffed, "Come on. Stop bluffing."
I remained silent.
He began to lose his cool. "Are you serious?"
My eyes turned red. "Damon, all these years, you've been busy with work, never celebrating our anniversaries or spending time with Glenda. I know your job is demanding, with patients always coming first."
"Be honest with me. Did you really have an emergency surgery when you left us at the gas station the other day?"
Damon was surprised. After a moment of silence, he said, "I'm sorry. It was my fault. I promise I won't ever leave you behind like that again. Whenever you need me, I'll be there as soon as possible."
"Damon, not every apology deserves forgiveness," I said with tears welling up in my eyes. "I won't forgive you."
Before Damon could say anything else, his phone rang suddenly. He answered the call and hurriedly left.
The ringtone was Alicia's new song.
