1. Don’t grab your phone. The blue light and stimulation will pull you out of the peaceful state.

  2. Breathe. Take a few deep, conscious breaths. Feel yourself grounded.

  3. Listen. What thoughts, feelings, or impressions are present?

  4. If you feel called, pray or meditate. Even 10 minutes can be deeply nourishing.

  5. Keep a journal nearby. If insights come, write them down—then release them and rest.
