Back in 2023, South Park aired an episode that many viewers instantly linked to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The satire sparked widespread discussion online and reportedly caused frustration within the couple’s camp.

The episode that caught everyone’s attention

On February 15, 2023, South Park released episode two of its 26th season. The 22-minute installment, titled The Worldwide Privacy Tour, introduced a fictional Prince of Canada and his wife.

Although the Sussexes were not explicitly named as characters, the similarities were hard to miss. From visual details to storyline choices, viewers quickly drew comparisons to Harry and Meghan.

The animated couple is shown appearing on a morning television program while loudly demanding privacy. Holding protest signs, they chant: “We want privacy, we want privacy.”

The irony becomes central to the joke. While insisting they want to avoid public attention, the characters embark on a highly visible global media tour.

Spare becomes part of the satire

One of the episode’s sharpest jabs involved Harry’s memoir Spare. In typical South Park fashion, the show transformed the title into a deliberately exaggerated parody.
