Looking ahead, reports suggest Harry is hoping for a much more public reunion. According to sources, the Duke of Sussex would like King Charles to attend the 2027 Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham next summer. Harry founded the Games in 2014 to support wounded, injured and sick service personnel, and they remain one of his most important projects.

A source told The Sun that Harry hopes his father might even open the Games alongside him, calling it a personal dream as well as a meaningful moment for the event itself. Invictus Games organisers have confirmed that members of the royal family will be invited.

Whether King Charles will attend remains to be seen. But between a quiet moment in a documentary and ongoing private contact, there are signs that the door, at least, is no longer fully closed.
