Diana’s eyes were calm but fierce. “We will end this today. Call him. Tell him you will sign the papers. Bring him here.”

Two hours later, Kyle’s text arrived. “Noon. Ranch house. Have the documents ready.”

At noon sharp, Kyle’s sleek car rolled up the drive. He walked toward my front door like a conqueror returning for spoils. Inside, the board waited, quiet and immovable.

Kyle entered without greeting. “Where are the papers,” he demanded.

I gestured to the table. “Sit,” I said. “Let us finish this.”

He opened his briefcase and laid out documents clearly prepared long before the wedding. His arrogance was almost impressive.

“You planned this carefully,” I said.

He shrugged. “Planning separates winners from losers.”

A voice behind him cut through the air. “Then you will appreciate how well we have planned too.”

Kyle turned to see the board members stepping forward, their presence radiating authority. Diana Fenton spoke calmly.

“You attempted to acquire corporate property through deception and violence. We have recordings, witnesses, and financial records.”

Kyle’s face drained of color. “You set me up.”

“No,” I replied. “You exposed yourself.”
