A Difficult Choice Between Family Loyalties

The eldest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is said to be spending Christmas abroad this year after feeling “tormented” by the decision of choosing between her father and King Charles.

Beatrice, 37, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 42, and their children were reportedly invited to spend what would be Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s final Christmas at Royal Lodge before they are forced to leave the property.

At the same time, King Charles extended an invitation for Beatrice to celebrate the holidays with the wider Royal Family at Sandringham — without Andrew.

Choosing to Avoid Embarrassment

Caught between the two options, Beatrice is said to have felt “tormented” and “torn between her loyalty” to both her father and the King. As a result, she reportedly chose to spend Christmas overseas in order to “avoid embarrassment.”

According to The Sun, the princess, her husband, and their children are planning to head off on a skiing holiday with friends.

“Beatrice doesn’t want to cause any embarrassment and was torn between loyalty to the King and her parents,” a friend said.
