- I leave a large glass of room temperature water on my bedside table (approx. 400–500 ml).
- I add a small pinch of sea salt or unrefined, mineral-rich salt.
Upon waking:
- Before coffee.
- Before breakfast.
- Before you talk to someone.
I drink the entire glass calmly, but without pauses.
Why I add a pinch of salt
The body needs electrolytes (minerals) so that water is well absorbed at the cellular level. That small amount of salt:
- Helps to better hydrate tissues.
- Helps restore balance after the night.
If you don’t like water alone, you can add a slice of lemon, but without sugar or honey in that first glass.
What I started to notice
In the first few weeks:
- Less stiffness in my knees when I get up.
- Less swelling in the hands.
- Less dizziness when standing up.
- The clearer mind much earlier.
An 82-year-old friend of mine suffered from almost daily headaches and felt insecure walking. She tried this ritual for a few days and called me surprised: the pains had subsided and she was able to get up without holding on to the walls.
It’s not a miracle trick: it’s hydrating the body at just the right time.
