Facing the Pacheco family’s furious eyes, I spoke coldly to Amirah. “The divorce, my lawyer will handle everything.”
A sharp, piercing cry tore from her throat. Like a woman possessed, she swept the coffee table bare, sending everything crashing to the floor, then burst into the bedroom.
Our wedding photos and the cosmetics I had given her were all smashed to pieces.
I watched her unravel with a calm that chilled the room.
“My poor daughter…” Elianna Pacheco rushed forward, wrapping her arms around Amirah as tears poured like a broken dam.
“Ah… ah…”
Amirah thrashed wildly, her features warped, eyes full of madness. Elianna tried to hold her, but Amirah’s strength overpowered her. She shoved her mother down and lunged for a chair as if to strike.
Everyone cried out in alarm, rushing forward to stop her.
“Aminah, she’s your mother!” Nikolai roared.
Amirah froze for a heartbeat, then the heavy chair slammed down on Elianna, who collapsed, rolling on the ground in agony as her wails filled the room.
But Amirah had lost all reason. She kicked her mother again and again until Nikolai rushed in and clutched his daughter tightly, finally restraining her madness.
