"I won't leave you, Lorelei, no matter what. Nothing can separate us! So please, forgive me. I'm your husband, so you should forgive me!" he pleaded.

His words made my ears ring. "Don't you hear yourself? Matthew, you're the crazy one in this relationship! That's why I told you to stay away from my sister, because I knew something bad would happen, but you didn't listen, and now here are the consequences! And my decision to divorce you is final!"

"I won't allow it! Lorelei, you seem to forget that you became a lawyer because of my family's help. So make the right decision, or you'll regret what you're doing, you might lose your job." Matthew threatened, and I felt a pang of fear because his family held influence.

"How dare you, Matthew! You have no right to stop me from making my own decisions. Don't blackmail me. You're the one who should be held accountable for committing adultery!" I yelled.

I was startled when he suddenly grabbed my arm. "Don't waste your time, Lorelei. My father is the mayor, and do you really think he'll let me go to jail?!"

His action hurt, so I pulled my arm away. "You're no different from your abusive father!"
