Prince Harry is back in the United Kingdom this week, but not for a family reunion. The Duke of Sussex, now 41, arrived on January 19 to attend court hearings linked to his legal case against the publisher of the Daily Mail. He is one of seven high profile figures accusing Associated Newspapers Limited of serious privacy violations. The claims include allegations of illegal phone data collection and the use of private investigators to plant listening devices.

The publishing group has firmly rejected the accusations, calling them completely unfounded. Harry’s visit is therefore centred on legal proceedings rather than personal visits. Reports suggest he has no plans to meet relatives during this trip.

Where the royal family are instead

While Harry is in London, other senior royals are elsewhere. King Charles is currently in Scotland enjoying a post Christmas break. At the same time, Prince William and Princess Kate have also travelled to Scotland for official engagements. Royal commentators have noted that the timing is significant, especially as Harry’s returns to the UK have been rare since he stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States in 2020.
