The security dispute that still hangs over him
Another key part of Harry’s UK visits remains unresolved. After leaving royal duties, his automatic taxpayer funded police protection was removed. Security arrangements are now decided case by case. Harry has challenged this decision in court for several years and lost a major appeal last May.
During an interview at the time, he admitted he could not imagine bringing Meghan and their children back to the UK under current conditions. He also said he wanted to repair relationships with his family.
Recent reports indicate that his security status is again under review and a decision is expected soon. Royal editor Russell Myers has suggested that restoring protection could open the door for Harry to bring Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to Britain in the future. However, Myers also pointed out that senior royals choosing to carry out engagements hundreds of miles away during Harry’s court appearance is a telling detail.
